Vietnam's legal and commercial landscape is undergoing significant transformation. This Vietnam debut event during Singapore Convention Week brings together experienced Vietnam arbitrators, arbitration lawyers, construction law specialists and international experts to discuss three critical developments: the evolving framework for court supervision of domestic arbitration in Vietnam; the establishment of the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) and its dedicated dispute resolution institutions; and key changes introduced by the new Construction Law 2025 and their practical implications for projects and dispute resolution.

Minh DANG

Minh Dang is the Senior Partner of YKVN and a well-recognized international arbitration lawyer. He has led numerous high value Vietnam arbitrations involving oil & gas, renewable energy, construction, property development, debt restructuring, shareholder, professional liability and tax disputes. He has been a member of the SIAC Court of Arbitration since 2019.

Dr. Hop DANG
Arbitrator, VIAC
Hop Dang is a senior independent arbitrator and a distinguished academic, with qualifications in Vietnam and Australia. Hop has acted as sole, presiding and co-arbitrator in more than 90 cross-border commercial disputes involving construction, investment, joint ventures and sale of goods under the rules of various institutions. As a VIAC listed arbitrator, Hop has also acted as a Court Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and an Alternate Court Member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. Holder of a DPhil from Oxford University, Hop has taught at a number of law schools including the University of Melbourne and the National University of Singapore.

Jimmy YIM SC
Chairman, Drew & Napier LLC
Jimmy Yim SC is Senior Counsel and Chairman of Drew & Napier LLC. He has deep and varied experience in complex civil and commercial litigation and high stakes international arbitration and his experience covers disputes across energy, infrastructure, building and construction, joint ventures, telecommunications, and information technology. Jimmy has been appointed in arbitrations seated in Singapore and other jurisdictions. He has substantial experience in Vietnam related arbitrations and court litigation in Singapore. A leader of the Singapore bar, Jimmy was appointed by the Chief Justice Co-Chair of the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee in 2023.

Michael E. Schneider is a founding partner and Senior Counsel of LALIVE, with over 40 years’ experience in international arbitration as counsel and arbitrator. He has acted in ad hoc and institutional proceedings under major rules including ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, Swiss Rules, SCC, CRCICA, DIAC, UNCC and WTO. He also chaired the UNCITRAL Working Group II (Dispute Settlement) and is member of the governing bodies of several arbitration institutions. He is particularly renowned for construction, infrastructure and engineering disputes, and is recognized as a “senior statesman” by Chambers Europe and “Hall of Fame” practitioner by Legal 500 EMEA.

NGUYEN (Wynn) Do

Nguyen Do is a Partner and Head of International Arbitration at YKVN. He is a dual-qualified lawyer in Washington State and Vietnam, with nearly 20 years of experience in high-value Vietnam-related and cross-border disputes, particularly in construction, infrastructure, energy, and international trade. He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in complex disputes arising from FIDIC and EPC contracts, including major infrastructure and energy projects. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnamese editions of the FIDIC 2017 suite and the FIDIC 2021 Short Form Contract (Green Book).

NGUYEN Manh Dzung

Nguyen Manh Dzung was recently nominated by the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice to serve as Chairman of the Executive Board of the International Arbitration Centre of Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFCA). He is a leading Vietnamese arbitrator and mediator with over 30 years of experience in maritime, commercial and investment disputes. Dzung is the Director of ADR Vietnam Chambers LLC and Founding Senior Partner of Dzungsrt & Associates, a prominent shipping and dispute resolution firm. He is the first Vietnamese member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He frequently sits as sole, presiding and co-arbitrator in disputes involving international trade, construction, M&A, and maritime matters under various rules, including VIAC, SIAC, KCAB, ICC, etc.

NGUYEN Nam Trung
Chair, SCLVN
Nguyen Nam Trung is Chair of the Society of Construction Law – Vietnam (SCLVN). With over 20 years of experience in construction and energy projects, he has extensive expertise in EPC and FIDIC-based contracts, certified as FIDIC Certified Adjudicator and Trainer. He has acted as arbitrator, tribunal chair in construction disputes at VIAC, and is actively involved in dispute boards and FIDIC contract training in South East Asia and South Asia. Trung is also listed on FIDIC President’s List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators and currently serve as Country Representative at the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation.

Thang Pham is a Partner of YKVN and the Head of the firm’s Singapore office. Dual-qualified in Vietnam and California, he is an experienced corporate and dispute resolution practitioner with nearly 20 years of practice and has acted in a substantial number of complex Vietnam-related disputes, including construction, energy (renewables and oil & gas), investor-state, shareholder, commercial, and professional liability matters.

Dr. TRAN Viet Dzung

Tran Viet Dzung is Associate Professor at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and Senior Consultant at DL & Partners. His expertise covers international trade, international investment, ADR, and PPP. With more than 200 publications, he has lectured at leading universities across Asia and Europe. Dzung’s professional experience includes nearly 20 years of legal practice experience, including six years in Singapore. He serves as a Chartered Arbitrator at VIAC and THAC and regularly acts as legal expert in international arbitration proceedings.
