Benjamin HUGHES

Independent Arbitrator, Hughes Arbitration


Professor Benjamin F. Hughes is an independent arbitrator at Fountain Court Chambers in Singapore, adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law, a member of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and a member of the Investment Committee of Omni Bridgeway. Previously, Professor Hughes was a member of the faculty at Seoul National University Law School, the founding co-chair of the international dispute resolution practice group at one of Korea’s largest full-service law firms and a member of the international arbitration team at Shearman & Sterling in the US and Singapore. Since leaving law firm practice in 2013, he has been appointed in over 200 arbitrations with several billion dollars in dispute, including ad-hoc arbitrations and arbitrations.

Elodie DULAC

Partner, King & Spalding


Elodie Dulac is a partner in King & Spalding’s Singapore office and a member of the firm’s International Arbitration group. Ms. Dulac has represented clients in commercial and investment arbitrations around the world, with a particular focus on Asia, where she has been based for 18 years. She has worked on international arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, SCC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL. In addition to her work as counsel, Ms. Dulac has been appointed as an arbitrator in over 30 arbitrations (HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, AIAC, KIAC and ad hoc). She has particular expertise in energy, mining, joint venture/shareholder and investor-State disputes, as well as Asia-Africa disputes. Ms. Dulac is a Singapore representative on the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, a Vice-Chair of the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and a Member of the Investment Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association. She has been named as a leading lawyer for international arbitration in Chambers Asia Pacific 2025, Legal500 2025, Arbitration Powerlist - Southeast Asia 2025, Lexology/Who's Who Legal 2024 (Thought Leader) and Lexology/Who's Who Legal Southeast Asia 2025.

Hyunyang KOO

Partner, Lee & Ko


As a member of Lee & Ko's International Arbitration Team, Hyunyang Koo handles a broad range of international arbitration and cross-border litigation matters involving international construction, software license agreements, military projects, international sports-related disputes, distributorship agreements and etc. Prior to joining Lee & Ko in 2016, she worked at Samsung C&T legal team (international construction), where she handled legal affairs and advice regarding various offshore construction contracts in Australia, North America, South-East Asia, and Middle East. In Lee & Ko, her main area of practice includes international arbitration cases at leading arbitral institutions such as ICC, LCIA, KCAB, SHIAC, CAS as well as ad hoc arbitrations and cross-border litigations.

Ms Koo is also an active member of the international arbitration society and has been appointed as a member of the YSIAC Council, Regional Ambassador for HK45 and a member of Steering Committee for Young MCIA.

John BANG

Partner, Peter & Kim


John P Bang is a senior partner (foreign attorney) at Peter & Kim in Seoul. He was previously a senior partner at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, where he worked for 23 years in various roles, including as the co-founder and head of the International Arbitration & Litigation Practice.

John is widely considered to be one of the foremost international disputes practitioners in Asia. In 2024, Chambers noted that John is “one of the top arbitration practitioners in Korea” and Who’s Who Legal praised John’s “excellent oral advocacy” He has represented parties in over 270 proceedings under the rules of all major institutions and/or ad hoc arbitrations including the ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, ICSID, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, UNCITRAL, VIAC, SCC, ACICA, CIETAC, KCAB, CAS, CIAC and JCAA.

In addition to his experience in arbitration, John regularly supervises and coordinates court litigations in multiple jurisdictions including the US and is widely considered to be an “expert” on choice of law and comparative law issues and gathering evidence (discovery) in international proceedings. He also acts as arbitrator and is frequently appointed as co-arbitrator or presiding arbitrator by institutions and users. Prior to his work at BKL, John served as a federal law clerk to the Honourable Kathryn C. Ferguson. Currently, he is a member of the SIAC Court of Arbitration, a vice president of the Korea Council for International Arbitration and a senior officer of the IBA Litigation Committee.

Junu KIM

Partner, Bae, Kim & Lee


Mr. Kim has devoted himself mostly to international arbitration and litigation practice being involved in many domestic and international arbitrations seated in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, Paris, Tokyo and Washington, most typically under the rules of the ICC, AAA-ICDR, KCAB, SIAC, JCAA and ICSID. He particularly engaged in the disputes among shareholders and M&A, licensing, sales contract, investor-state disputes. He has extensive experience in advising on the litigation, preservative measures or corporate decision-making necessary at the stage of initial negotiation of dispute before international arbitration cases commence or at the stage of execution and performance after arbitration award is granted.

As an in-service training program of BKL, Mr. Kim attended the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School LL.M. program to learn more about different legal systems and dispute resolution environments. After graduation, he spent several months at the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP Paris office, working on various international arbitration cases, including investor-state arbitrations. Utilizing his Japanese-speaking ability, he also worked at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune in Tokyo, assisting in legal issues arising from transactions between Korean and Japanese companies. Based on this experience, Mr. Kim was intensively involved in the production of Arbitration Law of Korea: Practice and Procedure (Co-author, Juris Publishing, 2011) published by the firm's International Arbitration and Litigation Team. He also co-authored a sister volume written in Korean (Co-author, Pakyongsa, 2012).

Mr. Kim has advised clients dealing with business related to North Korea, including the companies that operate business in Kaesong Industrial Zone of North Korea, and various government agencies including the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Justice with respect to the laws of North Korea and unification.

Paul SANDOSHAM

Partner, Clifford Chance


Paul Sandosham, heads the Energy, Infrastructure and Resources (Disputes) practice for Southeast Asia and co-leads the firm's global contentious construction initiatives. He focuses on dispute resolution (litigation, mediation & international commercial arbitration) in the energy, power, renewables, oil & gas, infrastructure, construction, engineering, rail, transport, utilities, natural resources, international trade, insurance, joint ventures and commodities sectors. He is concurrently the Managing Partner of Cavenagh Law LLP, Clifford Chance's formal law alliance partner in Singapore.
Paul acts as lead counsel in courts and international arbitration proceedings (under ICC, SIAC, DIAC, ADCCAC, UNCITRAL, LCIA, BANI, ICSID etc. Rules) for various parties in disputes arising out of complex cross-border investments and projects. Paul is a qualified Chartered Arbitrator. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.

Paul is recognised as a leading dispute resolution practitioner in numerous independent legal directories.

Pui-Ki Emmanuelle TA

Secretary-General, KCAB International


Pui-Ki Emmanuelle Ta is the Secretary-General of KCAB International. She is responsible for overseeing KCAB International’s operations, including case management and business development.

Prior to joining KCAB International, Pui-Ki worked as an independent arbitration practitioner.

She has over 20 years of expertise as an international arbitration counsel across various jurisdictions, with strategic development experience, having previously served in leadership roles at prominent arbitral institutions. This includes 15 years at the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), working at both the Paris headquarters and the Hong Kong Asia Office. Having served as a deputy counsel at ICC Paris, she later moved to Hong Kong to serve first as a founding member and then as counsel of ICC’s first overseas office leading the case management team there. During her tenure at the ICC, she supervised thousands of international arbitration cases across a wide variety of jurisdictions and economic sectors, primarily involving parties from Asia, Oceania and the Middle East.

After the ICC, she took on the role of Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General of eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre. There, she played a key role in advancing the use of technology in arbitration and mediation, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of disputes.

She is qualified to practice at the Paris bar and speaks English, French, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Sae Youn KIM

Partner, Kim & Chang


Sae Youn Kim is a senior member of the International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice of Kim & Chang.

Ms. Kim practices primarily in the areas of international litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on commercial and international law.

Before joining Kim & Chang, she served as a judge at various Korean district courts, and practiced as a key member in major Korean law firms. Ms. Kim also sits as an arbitrator. Her expertise in international dispute resolution has been recognized by the variety of roles she holds and held in various institutions, including but not limited to a Commissioner of the Korea Trade Commission, a Vice-Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, a Co-Chair of the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, and a Court member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. She is regularly selected as a leading lawyer by publications such as Chambers Global, Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500, and Asialaw.

She has co-authored various publications on several aspects of Korean law, including commercial litigation, arbitration, investment arbitration, construction, and privilege. She also speaks regularly in conferences organized by the International Bar Association, Inter Pacific Bar Association, and various arbitral institutions across the world. Besides being regularly selected as leading lawyer, she was also awarded Commended Counsel by ASIAN-MENA COUNSEL in 2016 and Woman Lawyer of the Year, by ALB Korea Law Awards in 2018.

Ms. Kim received an LL.M. from Duke University Law School in 2007, and her LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 1991. She graduated the Judicial Training and Research Institute by the Supreme Court of Korea in 1994. She speaks and practices in both Korean and English.

Seung Wha CHANG

Chairman, KCAB International


Seung Wha Chang is the Chairman of KCAB International and Professor of Seoul National University (SNU) School of Law.

In mid-2000s, Prof. Chang took the lead in founding the Korean international arbitration community. He was the founding Chairman of the Korean Council for International Arbitration (KOCIA) and chaired the drafting committee for the original KCAB International Arbitration Rules and also drafted the KCAB Code of Ethics for Arbitrators. At the same time, he played an active role to promote international arbitration in Asia, while serving as the 3rd President of the Asia-Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG).

Since late 1990s, Prof. Chang has sat as an adjudicator/arbitrator for international dispute settlement tribunals nearly one hundred times. He has served as an arbitrator (chairman or co-arbitrator) for various arbitral institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, VIAC, JCAA and KCAB. He also served as a Member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Besides commercial arbitration, Prof. Chang has been recognized as a leading Asian adjudicator for States-to-States economic dispute settlement. After serving as one of the most frequently appointed panelists/arbitrators for the WTO dispute settlement, in 2012, he was appointed as a Member (Judge) of the WTO Appellate Body. After returning from Geneva, Prof. Chang also served for the Korean government as the Chairman of the Korea Trade Commission. In 2022, he was appointed, for the first time in history, as an appellate review arbitrator for WTO dispute settlement.

In earlier days of his legal career, Prof. Chang practiced at Covington & Burling in Washington D.C., and served as a judge for Seoul District Court. He is a former Dean of SNU School of Law. Prof. Chang has served for the Board of Directors of POSCO (as Chairman), LG and Hyundai Motor Co.

Prof. Chang holds law degrees from SNU (LL.B.) and Harvard Law School (LL.M. & S.J.D.). He has taught international arbitration, investment and trade law courses as a tenured professor at SNU and, as a Visiting Professor, at various renowned law schools including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, NYU, Duke, Georgetown, UCLA, National University of Singapore, Hong Kong University, and Geneva University. In 2007, Harvard Law School granted him an endowed visiting professorial chair title, Nomura Visiting Professor of International Financial Systems. Prof. Chang is also Editor-in-Chief for Korean Arbitration Review, and an Advisory Board Member for the Journal of International Dispute Settlement (Oxford) and formerly the Journal of International Economic Law (Oxford).
