Swiss TEF Rules in Focus: A New Era for Private Wealth Disputes

As cross-border trust and estate disputes become more frequent, arbitration is taking on a greater role in resolving these matters. The recently launched Swiss TEF Rules provide a specialized framework for addressing the complexities of private wealth disputes. The panel would offer participants an early look into these new rules and their practical implications for practitioners and families alike.

Benjamin GOTTLIEB

Benjamin Gottlieb is a Partner in our Dispute Resolution Group in Zurich. His main areas of practice are international arbitration as well as domestic and international commercial litigation. He further specialises in and advises clients on the United Nations Convention for the International Sales of Goods (CISG).

David KOAY

David is Group CEO at British and Malayan Holdings Limited, and Board Director of British and Malayan Trusteess Limited; the oldest listed independent Trust services company in Singapore.

David has over 35 years of diversified & extensive experience in banking, corporate finance & wealth management.

He held several senior positions in various International & Regional Banks, both in Private Banking and Corporate & Investment Banking roles.

David also has the unique experience of working on the client side as Treasurer to one of Asia’s Forbes UHNWI in building start up companies to significant market players. He understands client’s needs & perspective.

He had worked in various regions in SEA, Australia, Middle East.

David is a Trainer with Wealth Management Institute (WMI) and Associate Estate Planning Practitioner (AEPP).

David holds an MBA from RMIT and a Bachelor in Economics & Accounting from La Trobe University. He attended the Oxford University General Manager program.

Julie Raneda, FCIArb, is a Partner in Schellenberg Wittmer’s International Arbitration Practice and the Managing Director of the firm’s Singapore office.

Professor TANG Hang Wu

Tang Hang Wu is the Lee Kong Chian Professor at the Yong Pung How School of Law and Associate Provost (Research Governance & Administration) at Singapore Management University and Co-head of the Private and Wealth Desk at TSMP Law Corporation. He has published widely and is a co-editor of Trusts and Private Wealth Management and Trusts (2022). He is frequently instructed as Counsel and expert witness on trust disputes in Singapore and elsewhere. Hang Wu also advises trustees in relation to trust structures and complex decision-making and has experience managing trust disputes in Singapore and Jersey.
